Pilates Pregnancy Classes with Violeta Gago

Embarking on the journey of pregnancy is a transformative experience, both physically and emotionally. Now more than ever, nurturing your body and mind is paramount, both for you and your little one.

Maybe you’ve been told don’t do this and don’t do that during your pregnancy, that is why Violeta Gago is here to guide you through this exciting, sometimes intimidating, yet beautiful period of your life. In this course, she will focus on the things you CAN do to strengthen and prepare your body for delivery and post-natal recovery.

Why pregnancy pilates?

Pregnancy Pilates is not just a workout; it’s a holistic approach to support your changing body. Under the guidance of Violeta Gago, a seasoned Pilates instructor, you’ll experience exercises designed specifically for pregnant bodies, and you will feel that you can still train and challenge yourself safely in a way that feels both nourishing and empowering.

What’s different?

Because your body is constantly changing during pregnancy, many women feel frustrated when they can not exercise as they used to. In this pregnancy course, Violeta wants to help you focus on the things that will make your pregnancy a rewarding and gratifying journey. What sets this course apart from our other reformer classes is a stronger focus on stability and strengthening the muscles that are either under more strain now, or that will be facing more strain during and in the months following childbirth. Violeta will help you build the necessary stability, strength and endurance with exercises tailored to alleviate common discomforts, enhance pelvic floor strength, and promote a strong healthy postnatal period.

You will also learn exercises that aid in regaining core strength, addressing muscle imbalances, and promoting overall well-being postpartum. Violet ‘s comprehensive approach ensures that everyone, regardless of their stage of pregnancy will feel cared for and supported through these three months.

You’re not “just a body”:

Pregnancy is a time of profound connection between mind and body. Through mindful movements and breathing techniques, Violeta will help you develop a deeper awareness of your body, fostering a positive mindset throughout the pregnancy. Moreover, our Pregnancy Pilates Course is not just about the exercises; it’s about building a supportive community of mothers-to-be. You will share experiences, concerns, and triumphs with your peers and create lasting connections as you navigate this transformative period together.

The classes are starting April 19 at Studio South till June 28, where Violeta will dedicate 3 weeks to some very important themes:

In April we will work on spine mobility & balance. As pregnancy progresses, postural changes occur and moving around becomes more challenging. Working on spine mobility and balance will help you adjust to the changes in your body so you can move, feel and breathe better.

In May, our focus will be on pelvic stability and safe core work. Maintaining stability is key to any activity you do, whether that is in sports, work or your household tasks. Moreover, though some sources may have told you to leave your core entirely on the backburner in this period, the truth is that your core still needs to support you. It can be hard to know what is safe and appropriate and what is not, so Violeta will ensure that you get the right and most effective exercises that will make you feel good and move better.

When June comes around, our attention shifts to the feet and legs. As you get a bit heavier, feet and legs may tire. Violeta will give you exercises and tools to help combat the fatigue and swollen feet that you may come to experience.

The last theme of the course will be upper body and breathing. The mere size of your belly will challenge your breathing. Breathing is also an excellent tool to help you through delivery and the stress associated with a big life changing event like bringing another being into this life. When the belly gets heavier, this also asks a lot of your upper back, and we will make sure your arms and back are ready for the tasks that come with nursing and caring for your little one.
